 Fully-qualified professional with intermediate to senior- level of understanding and knowledge of, and exposure to, fundamental theories, principles and concepts.  Applies knowledge and experience to resolve a range of routine and non-routine issues using judgment and discretion.  Performs detailed-oriented work that includes analyzing possible solutions using standard procedures / instructions involving a number of different steps, methods and alternatives.  Level at which career is likely to plateau depending on field or discipline.

 Performs a variety of law-related tasks under the direction of the organization's attorneys. Primary responsibility for management of subsidiaries, including drafting and revision of minutes, resolutions, incorporations, foreign qualifications, etc. and maintenance and organization of corporate records. Provides support for recordkeeping and minutes of internal managment-led committees and coordination of meeting materials and correspondence.   Provides support to board and committee matters, including legal research and correspondence.  Performs initial review of documents and agreements and provides detailed summaries of findings for attorneys’ review.  Provides support on a variety of departmental initiatives, including training, intranet site and departmental processes.  Works collaboratively with attorneys and other legal analysts on routine matters and special projects. Communicates extensively both verbally and in writing with attorneys and clients as the initial point of contact on specific and general issues and requests. 

Qualifications:

  • B.A. degree or equivalent
  • Paralegal Certificate or equivalent work experience, course work and training. 
  • Good problem-solving skills with the ability to provide competent legal assistance to attorneys handling legal matters involving moderate to heavy legal exposure
  • Excellent analytical abilities with a detailed focus
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Experience working with contracts and related issues, including reviewing and drafting documents.
  • Excellent team player, coordinating well with peers, supervisor, and others in Legal and multiple business units
  • Proficient computer skills including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
  • Proficient computerized legal research skills including Lexis

Preferred:

  • 2 or more years of legal analyst or paralegal experience

Position Summary:

A paralegal is needed to provide assistance for all aspects of litigation case management for a fast pace in house legal team. We are looking for a talented, self-motivated individual who enjoys being busy and working in a fast-paced environment. Candidates must be extremely organized, possess excellent communication and research skills, and demonstrate the ability to lead.


Duties include:

  • Prepare legal documents and statements.
  • Prepare affidavits or other documents, maintain document file, and file pleadings with court clerk.
  • Gather and analyze research data, such as statutes, decisions, and legal articles, codes, and documents.
  • Investigate facts and law of cases to determine causes of action and to prepare cases.
  • Collaborate with inside and outside counsel on cases.
  • Locate, interview, and obtain witness statements.
  • Work directly with experts, consultants and witnesses regarding case and prepare them for trial.
  • Trace, collect and other physical/electronic evidence or records.
  • Correspond with client about case status and preparation.

    Requirements

    Skills required:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills
  • Strong organization skills – able to manage multiple projects and document intensive matters
  • Exceptional collaboration – desire to work in a team environment
  • Candidate must possess a strong work ethic and personal integrity 

    Experience Preferred:
  • Familiarity with Concordance / Summation / or other data management database
  • Experience with Westlaw or similar research tool
  • Experience with electronic discovery collection, management and production 

    Education Required:
  • High School Diploma

    Education Preferred:
  • A.S. in Legal Assistant
  • Paralegal Certificate

    Physcial Demands/Working Conditions:
  • Some lifting may be required – up to 40 lbs.
